Reporting potholes

Transport for London are responsible for repairing the trunk routes in London (the major A roads). Other roads are the responsibility of local borough councils. A very small number of  roads are private (or 'unadopted') - the local authority will be able to provide information.

On the internet

You can report street faults such as potholes on most council websites: the links on the right will direct you to the appropriate part of your local council's website if they offer this service. You will usually be given a reference number so that you can follow up on your complaint and monitor its progress.

Transport for London and FillThatHole will pass on complaints about street faults (pot holes, faulty street lights etc.) to borough officers or the relevant Transport for London officer.

By telephone

Call the Street Faults Contact Centre on 0845 305 1234 or choose a number from the list below, depending on whether the pothole is on a trunk road and which borough it is in. Be prepared to make several phone calls - polite but insistent is probably the best approach.
